About our Church

Pilgrim OPC is a local expression of the people of God, the Body of Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. As part of the "one, holy, catholic and apostolic" Christian Church she seeks to believe, live and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes (Rom. 1:16).

Pilgrim church has been in continuous existence in Bangor, ME since 1953 and has had many pastors over her 50-year history. We have been located at our current facilities since 1960. We are affiliated with the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

The most important thing about Pilgrim OPC is our commitment to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God, the only infallible rule of faith and life for Christians and the Christian Church. The Bible is God's revelation of his plan to save a world of sinful people through his Son, the Lord Jesus. This is what we mean by saying that we are "Orthodox" Presbyterians: we are trying to be faithful to the Bible. We are striving to be "orthodox" ("straight thinking").
